Mendels 4 Concepts
1. Alternative versions of genes (alleles) account for variations in inherited traits.
2. For each inherited characteristic, an offspring inherits two alleles, one from each parent.
3. If the two alleles differ, the dominant allele effects the organisms appearance while the recessive has no effect.
4. The 2 alleles for a character separate(segregate) during gamete formation- they end up in different gametes.
Law of segregation
The two alleles for each gene separate randomly during mitosis.
