What is the lymphatic system?
The lymphatic system is part of the cardiovascular system and an important part of the immune system, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph directionally towards the heart.

What is inflammation?
Inflammation is a local defensive response to any type of cellular/tissue damage, examples include microbial infection, heat, radiation, sharp objects, acids.
What are the functions of inflammation?
- destroy the microbe and remove its by-products (like toxins)
- if destruction is not possible, to limit the effects on the body by walling off the microbe and it's by-products.
- repair or replace tissue damaged by microbe or its by-products.
