Bacterial cell wall
Basic structure of murein ( a tough glycoprotein)
Plasma membrane
Same structure for eukaryotes and prokaryotes.
Main boundary between inside of cell and environment.
Cytoplasm
Has every organelle suspended inside.
In bacterial cells it consists of cytosol
Cell membrane
Consists of a phospholipid bilayer containing other molecules.
Mesosome
In prokaryotes
Infolding of the cell membrane, unknown what it's function is.
Capsule
Pathogenic bacteria surrounded by mucus. Acts as a protective layer against viruses or immune system by hiding antigens on it's surface.
Flagella
On some prokaryotes.
Long helical tubes which extend out of the call wall and rotate for moment.
Pili
In prokaryotes.
Hollow protein structures used during bacterial conjugation (the transfer of genetic material between bacteria)
Prokaryotic cells
Cells without membrane bound organelles.
