What is a index fossil?
An index fossil is a fossil species that are used to distinguish one layer from another and occur for a limit period of time.they have to be common,easily identified and found across a large area.
Why are primate fossils not got index fossils?
Primate fossils are rare so are not good index fossils
Give an example of an index fossils and explain why is an index fossil?
An example of an index fossil is pigs or rodents which is typically used cos they are common,widely distributed and evolve relatively rapidly.
