Hypopyon in bacterial ulcer
Sterile (bacteria cannot invade intact Descemet’s membrane)
Fluid, move according to head posture
Hypopyon in fungal ulcer
Infective
Thick and immobile
Classify fungi.
i. Yeast (e.g. Candida, Cryptococcus neoformans, Rhinosporidium)
ii. Filamentous –
Septate and non-septate
Septate: Fusarium, Aspergillus, Curvularia
Non-septate: Mucor, Rhizopus
iii. Dimorphic: Histoplasmosis.
