Acid ends in suffix -ic and has the prefix hydro. Names not as an acid the anion ends in the suffix ide And is usually monatomic (on periodic table)

Acid Rule #2
Ends in the suffix -out. Named not as an acid the anion ends in the suffix -it’s and is a polyatomic ion.
-ous = -ite
Acid Rule #3
Ends in suffix -ic and has no prefix. Named no as an acid this ends in the suffix -ate and is polyatomic.
-ic = -ate
