A rare but serious infection caused by bacteria (such as group a streptococci) that can destroy skin, fat, and the tissue covering the muscles within a very short time. the bacteria enter the body through a skin wound. the symptoms start suddenly after an injury or wound and are more severe then they would normally be with the wound or injury. immediate medical attention is essential as infection can spread rapidly and can quickly become life threatening. this bacteria is also called flesh eating bacteria
