A nitrogen with a lone pair of electrons, categorized as either primary, secondary or tertiary depending on the number of R groups
Aliphatic Amines
Tend to be fishy (Butyl Amine) but rapidly decrease in strength with increasing molecular weight (Trimethyl Amine)
Aromatic Amines
Can be fishy (Phenyl Ethyl Amine) or grapey (Methyl Anthranilate)
