Protease
Protease are made in: the somach, in the pancreas, in the lining of the small intestine
What it does: Catalyses the breakdown of protein molecules into amino acids
Where it does it: In the stomach and small intestine
Lipase
Lipase is made in the pancrease and the lining of the small intestine.
What it does: Catalyses the breakdown of lipids (fat molecules) into fatty acid and glycerol molecules
Where it does it: In the small intestine
Enzymes need a particular pH to work best
Some enzymes wotk well at acidic pH
Your stomach makes hydrochloric acid. This kills any bacteria that are in the food you eat. The proteases that work in your stomach can work well at low pH
