Paper Transport Mechanism

Applies pressure & heat to the paper to fuse the toner particles to the paper

Formatter Board
Step 1 - EP drum is cleaned with a rubber squeegee blade
Cleaning
Step 2 - Removes charge from the EP drum in prep for the next image
Erasing
Step 3 - Charged with a charge roller. The roller is connected to a HV-PSU to produce negative charges
Charging (Conditioning)
Step 4 - A laser writes to the EP drum, giving portions of the drum a weaker negative charge
Writing
Step 5 - Toner is attracted to the areas of the drum where the laser hit. The image is ready to be developed. A wipe blade spreads the toner evenly on the surface of the drum leaving only the regions written by the laser
Developing
Step 6 - Positively charged papers are fed into the printer by pickup rollers. The paper attracts toner sticking on the drum. The toner transferred sticks on the paper
Transferring
Step 7 - The toner is melted & fused with the paper permanently
