Acceptable Use Policy

Expectations of how students and faculty will use school resources. It is most commonly associated with using the Internet.

Admission, Review, Dismissal Committee (ARD)

A committee whose members determine eligibility for special education services, create, review, and modify a child's IEP, and can decide whether or not that child still needs special services.

Child Protective Services (CPS)

Within 48 hours of suspension of abuse or neglect, a teacher must report it to this agency.

Commissioner of Education

Appointed by the governor and has administrative responsibility for the TEA and implementation of legislation.

Corporal Punishment

Elected body that has specific areas of responsibility for education in the state.

Chief educational leader employed by the local school board. He has responsibility for the provision of the quality educational offerings in the district.

Texas Education Agency (TEA)

Administrative state agency that is directed by the commissioner of education. It assists in the development and enforcement of regulations.
