o What are the elements that are unusual?
The most unusual element of this commercial is not the mechanical bull but what is riding on it. What we have is a beautiful young model by the name of Cameron Richardson.
She is a 5 ft. 8 model who wears a size 4 dresses.
She has much assumed sexy appeal, but in regard to the burger? No real connection. For a fast food commercial especially, there lies no real tie to the actual product at hand.
o What is the target group of the commercial?
Basically anyone that chose not to turn away from the television set. Whether it is male or females, young or old. In a world where it is low carb this fat free that, Carl’s Junior throws that innuendo straight out of the window!
Males will most likely remember the woman on the mechanical bull and not the actual burger. As for women, they are targeted with the though, of it can hurt just to enjoy a “simple” burger! Models do it so can I…
o How does the commercial appeal to consumers?
Sexually!!! It shows that you can be a young and beautiful adult and still consume a burger. For young woman it can easily say: you can eat and enjoy all the burgers you want, and still look like me! Cameron Richardson. As a matter of fact the ending slogan at commercials end states: Eat Right, Exercise More! Let just look at that closely. This slogan makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Bull riding is not and has never been a viable option of exercise for most Americans.
o Why do you believe this commercial to be effective in brand name recognition?
In a sense yes! It brings familiarity to the brand. You think racy, sexy, steamy commercials…Boom Carl Junior’s commercials are the first thing that comes to mind.
o How are ethical standards met (or pushed to their limits)?
This commercial pushed ethical standards to the fullest by means of sex appeal. Can they possibly agree to sell a burger by means of simulating a sexual act? This commercial is unethical by means of what it presents to the American living rooms of today. Some family atmospheres may not be bothered by it, but for the other kind of families, such form of sexuality may be offensive and disrespectful. Obviously Carl’s Junior did not care how they would be perceived as a company nor cater to those select family varieties who where effected by these radical images.
