Cnidarians can either be Polyp or Medusa. What is that? |
Polyp: mouth up, sessile, asexual. Medusa: mouth down, motile sexual. •Most cnidarians alternate between Polyp and Medusa stages of life cycle. •Most live independently as individual animals but some live in colonies like coral. |

What is the cnidarians method of feeding? |
They use their nematocysts and tentacles and trap their prey. Tentacles are then used to bring food in towards the mouth. Digestion begins with the gastrovascular cavity. Nutrients are then absorbed by cells. It is an incomplete digestive system (sac plan). |

How do cnidarians move? |
The nerve net. This allows for transmission of nerve impulses throughout the body in many directions. The body can contract and expand. The tentacles can reach and grasp. |

Medusas bud from the reproductive polyps |

Egg and sperm are released into the water. Fertilization is external. Cnidarians are hermaphrodites. |
