Cleaning

Removal of all visible & non visible soil & any other foreign material from medical devices being processed

Any ingredient used to bind together substances that normally do not combine, such as oil & water

Surfactant agents

Substance that lowers the surface tension of the water & increases the solubility of organic compounds

Chelating agents

Chemicals the hold hard water minerals in solution & prevent soaps or detergents from reacting w/ the minerals

Toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS)

Acute postoperative inflammatory reaction in which a non infectious substance enters the anterior segment & induces toxic damage to the intra ocular tissue
