what is the plantar reflex
plantar reflex= normal reflex of plantar flexion of the foot (toes move away from shin, and curl down). Abnormal plantar reflex (aka Babinski) occurs when upper motor neuron control over the flexion reflex circuit is interrupted. This results in dorsiflexion of foot . Babinski reflex occurs in babies under ~2 yrs, b/c of low myelination of corticospinal tracts.
