2. Followed by 2nd element's base name and suffix -ide.

i.e.
CaCl2 = Calcium Chloride
KBr = Potassium Bromide
How do you name Type II Binary Compounds? (3)
1.Metal ion listed first.

2. Charge of metal ion listed in parentheses in Roman numerals.

3. Base name of the non-metal ion is listed with suffix -ide.

i.e.
Cr2S3 = Chromium (III) Sulfide
Pb3P4 = Lead (IV) Phosphide
How do you name molecules (non-metal to non-metal)?
1. Add Greek prefix to first element representing the # of that element. (No prefix needed if only 1.)

2. Add prefix to second element representing the number of that element. (Add prefix for elements = 1)

3. Add suffix -ide to second element

i.e.
CO = Carbon Monoxide
NO2 = Nitrogen Dioxide
N2O = Dinitrogen monoxide
P3Br7 = Triphophorus Heptabromide
