Define and discuss at least three difference between acute care and extended care facilities
Acute care facility implies that a client in the hospital has a serious condition that needs to be closely monitored by healthcare professionals as to where the ECF admits clients for longer periods of time. Acute care admits for short period of time and clients are often very sick and need alot of nursing care in acute facilities. The ECF include nursing homes, in patient rehabiliation centers, inpatient treatment centers for chemical dependency and facilities for chronic mental health care. Acute care include hospitals, ICU, specialized hospitals, home health care, hospice and respite care.
Identify at least two types of healthcare services provided in each type of healthcare facility
ACUTE: Administration, Admitting and Discharge, Neonatal.
ECF (extended care facility): S&F skilled nursing facility which provides 24 hour nursing care under the supervision of a RN and Intermediate Care Facility provides 24 hour service for nursing assistance under supervision of an LPN/LVN with an RN as a consultant.

main purpose is to act as a consumer advocate to resolve concens or problems, and the goal is to focus on client care, needs and concerns not the problems that may be encountered during the hospital admission. The CLIENT REP is responsible for helping clients and their families find needed services, they listen and answer questions. Representative can help find housing, restaurants. ADOVCATE assist as needed.

Private insurance which costs are high and insurance company often refuses to insure anyone who is considred a health risk
Group ins offers coverage for ppl who belong to certain groups.
HMO offer helath services for fixed monthly charge called a premium.
PPO are used to deliver healthcare in a managed system. POS is similare to HMO and PPO in that they are all thypes of managed care the POS plan also contracts with phusican and other helath care providers.
Medicare is federal hleath ins program tnat is available to most ppl 65 yr and older, some ppl with disability and ppl with end stage renal disease
Medicaid is a joint effort of federal and state govt. It is for ppl over the age of 65, blind or disabled or those who are members of familes who receive aid for famlies of dependent children

consumer fraud is illegel, ppl who are experiencing pain maybe willing to try anything at any costs. the general public often cannot tell the difference between true and false claims. we must educate the clients on detecting frauds as a client advocate.
