Antifibrinolytic Drugs

•Prevent the lysis of fibrin


•Result in promoting clot formation


•Used for prevention and treatment of excessive bleeding resulting from hyperfibrinolysis or surgical complications

Antifibrinolytic Drugs: indications

-Desmopressin may be used to treat patient who has hemophilia A or type I Von Willebrand disease



-as stated earlier recombinant factors VII, VIII, and IX are used to treat hemophilia or to stop bleeding from excessive warfarin therapy

Antifibrinolytic drugs: Interactions

-Estrogens or oral contraceptives used with aminoparodic acid or tranexamic acid, resulting in increased coagulation



-monitor des oppression when given with lithium



-chlorpromazine and fludrocortisone may lead to edema
