Stock Holders:
Shareholders; owners of a corporation
Dividends:
The part of the corporation’s profits paid to stockholders
Capital gain:
An increase in the value of stock above the price initially paid for it
Common stock:
A type of stock that pays a variable dividend and gives the holder voting rights
Proxy:
A stockholders written Authorization to transfer voting rights to someone else, usually a company manager

The use of borrowed money to buy securities
Short Selling:
Selling stock borrowed from a broker that must be replaced at a later time
Stock Split:
An increase in the number of outstanding shares of a company’s stock
Direct Investment:
Buying stock directly from a corporation
Reinvestment:
using dividends previously earned on the stock to buy more shares
