President Roosevelt pledged to follow "the policy of the good neighbor" toward Latin American Countiries in the 1930's. Why did he think this plicy was necessary? What did he do to follow it?
President Roosevelt thought that the Good Neighbor Plicy was necessary because since Mexico imprisoned American sailors, the U.S and Latin America had been fighting back and forth, which caused Latin America to develop anti-American feelings. Roosevelt did not want this, and because of this policy, the Cubans gained more independence. Roosevelt was behind the nationalism of oil companies in Mexico, which helped Latin American nationalism greatly.
Compare and contrast the ways Britain , France, and the United States dealt with the problems created by the Great Depression.
In dealing with the Great Depression, Britain, France, and the U.S. were all similar in dealing with the problems because they all made significant changes to their government; whether it worked or not. The difference between how they dealt with the situation is that Britain set up a coalition gobernment, but did not help the economy, as a result many workers were unemployed. France combined leftist parties and focused on solving labor issues therfore their government worsened. IN the U.S., Franklin Roosevelt introduced the New Deal which focused on the economy and created a secure system.
The fascists could not have come to power in Italy or Germany without some popular support. Why did many people prefer fascism over a constitutional government?
Many people prefered fascism over a constitutional government, becasue this government was strong and stable; it also ended the political feuding stopping Italys democracy. Another reason was becauseMussolini showed the Italians that he had the power and confidence they needed in their disorders and sad times, he reintoduced nationalism.
