Climacteric and Menopause |
Reproductive capacity declines or is lost for both men and women, this is called climacteric. Males experience a decrease in testosterone. Women experience a decrease in estrogen and progesterone. The first stage of reduced fertility is known as perimenopause. When periods cease for a year or more, women officially reach menopause and can no longer reproduce. |

Sarcopenia, the loss of muscle mass and strength. Calcium deficiency causes bones to become brittle and less dense, which could result in a condition called osteoporosis. |
