When the attachment of gums to teeth break down, forming a pocket. Tooth becomes loose at 50% bone loss

Scalers & curettes - what is the similarity and difference?

Both used to tartar or calculus


Scaler has pointed end


Curette has rounded end

How does nitrous oxide sedation work?

machine administers oxygen & nitrous oxide to patient. Oxygen cannot be below 30% minimum. System will shut down if oxygen tank becomes empty before n2o tank.


Oxygen is GREEN


nitrous oxide (n2o) is BLUE


Aka laughing gas

After operation is completed, what should be done if using sedation?

Dial should be turned to administer 100% oxygen to patient & Press purge button for 2 second to release system and bag of n2o gas.
