What are the eligibility requirements for a private pilot (airplane) certificate?

Read, write, speak and understand English. Have at least a current Third class medical certificate. Received required ground and flight training endorsements. Meet the applicable aeronautical experience requirements. Passed the required knowledge and practical tests. |

What privileges and limitations apply to a private pilot?
|
No person who holds a private pilot may act as a PIC that is carrying passengers or property for compensation or hire. Nor may that person for compensation or hire act as a PIC of an AC.
Exceptions: a. business incidental to the business b. carpool, fuel, oil, expenditures, rental fees c. charitable organizations d. may demonstrate an aircraft in flight to prospective buyer as salesman +200 logged flight hours e. may act as PIC of aircraft towing a glider provided they meet the requirements of 14 CFR 61.69 |
