Cell membrane
Compocition: Lipid bylayer, containing phospholipids, steroids, and proteins.

Function: Provides isolation, protection, sensitivity and support; controls entrance and exit of materials.
Cytosol
Composition: Fluid component of cytoplasm.

Function: distribute materials by diffusion.
Cytoskeleton
Composition: Proteins organized in fine filaments or slender tubes.

Function: Provides strength and support; enables movement movement of cellular structures and materials.
Microtubbuials
microtubules and micrfilliamnts make up the cytoskeleton.
Ribosomes
ribosomes are found attached to the RER. Free ribosomes are scattered in the cytoplasm. Ribosomes Synthesize protein.
globi Apparatus
Sacks of flattened membranes containing chambers. it stores, alters and packages secretory products; formes lysomes
Lysomes
vesecles containing powerful digestive enzymes. They remove damaged organelles or pathogens within the cell.
mitochondria
Double membrane, with inner folds enclosing important metabolic enzymes. Produces 95% of the ATP required by the cell.
Centrioles
Two centrioles, at right angles; each composed of microtubules. they are essential for movement of chromosomes during cell division.
Nucleus
Contains DNA, nucleotides, enzymes and proteins; surrounded by a double membrane. Controls metabolism; stores and processes genetic information; controls protein synthesis.
chromatin and chromosomes
Each are found within the nucleolus of the cell. Chromatin is DNA that is loosley spread out. Chromosomes are tightly wound DNA that is ready for cell mitosis.
Nucleoli
Dense region in nucleoplasm containing DNA and RNA. Synthesizes RNA and assembles ribosomal subunits.
Cilla
Membrane extensions containing microtubules. it moves material over the cells surface
SER
Smooth endoplasmic riticulum: A network of membranous channels extending throught the cytoplasm. It synthesizes lipids and carcohydrates.
RER
Rough endoplasmic riticulum: A network of membranous channels extending throught the cytoplasm that has ribosomes attached to its membranes. It synthesizes secretory products; provides intracellular storage and transport. Packages newly synthesized proteins.
Flagella
A threadlike appendage, especially a whiplike extension of certain cells or organisms that functions as an organ of locomotion.
Microvilli
Membrane extensions containing microfilaments.Increase surface aera to facilitate absorbtion of extracellular materials.
