Nucleoplasm
A protein rich substance in the nucleus
Vacuoles
Storage tanks for food and waste.
Chromosomes
Directs all activity of the cell for growth and production. It is made up of two nucleic acids (RNA & DNA)
Nucleolus
It is referred to as the little nucleus. It is the site of ribosome production.
Endoplasmic reticulum
Transportation center of the cell. Transports protein. It is the subway system of the cell.
Golgi Bodies or Golgi Apparatus
Packages proteins for transport out of the cell. It is also for storage.
Cell wall
(This is only in a plant cell) It is made of cellulose, which is a non-living material.
Ribosomes
Protein factory of the cell. This is where proteins are produced.
Chloroplasts
Green structures used to capture energy from the sun. It also helps to make food for the plant.
Mitochondria
Serves as the powerhouse of the cell. It produces ATP, which is the source of energy for all activities.
Nucleus
Directs all cell activities. Carries hereditary information.
Nuclear membrane
surrounds the nucleus
Centriole
Small dark body outside the nucleus used during cell division
Endoplasmic reticulum
Transportation center of the cell. Transports protein. It is the subway system of the cell.
Lysosomes
Cleanup crew of the cell. It is involved in digestive activities in the cells. Mostly used in animal cells but frequently used in plant cells.
cell membrane
Acts like a doorway or barrier. Everything passes into and out of the cell through the cell membrane.
What are organelles?
Structures within a cell. They help to build, repair, store and transport materials. They release energy and get rid of wastes.
Cytoplasm
Jelly-like substance between the nucleus and the cell membrane.
