Wing and Drop |
An old method - wings and legs painted like drops. To change the scene, one set of wings, drops, and border are flown out and another set flown in. It is still commonplace in opera and theatre. |
|
Gripping |
Close the curtain and send the grips out to pick up the set pieces and carry them off. |
|
Battens |
Used to connect flats together. They are simply boards - 1”x3” or 1”x4”. Lay battens flat on the backs of the flats and fasten then to the frame of the flats with drywall or utility screws. |
|
Smoke Pockets |
Metal grooves at each side of the proscenium where smoke escapes. |
|
Rosin Box |
Holds rosin for dancers. |
