what are the differences between natural and synthetic materials?
natural materials are materials such as wool or paper. synthetic materials are materials like nylon or rubber
are all materials made up of chemicals or are they made up of other things as well?
all materials are made up of chemicals they are either made up of one chemical or a mixture of chemicals. chemicals are made up of atoms or groups of atoms bonded together.

what is the meaning of the word density?
density is a material's mass per unit volume(e.g g/cm3). Don't confuse density with mass or weight
when making measurements what are the reasons they may not be correct?
1) there might be a fault with the equipment
2) wrong results can be because of human error.
3) your samples and techniques have to be the same.
when making measurements in an experiment how many results should you take and why?
you should be taking be taking a minimum of 4 results so that you can justify and be certain that you results are right and reliable
what are the possible uses for plastics?why?
it could be used for thing such as televisions,computers or kettles because it is fairly hard, stiff and strong.
what are the possible uses for rubber?why?
it could be used for car tyres because it is strong, mouldable and flexible.

it could be used for ropes and clothing because it is soft and flexible and it has a good tensile strength.
what is crude oil a mixture of?
crude oil is a mixture of hydrocarbons-molecules which are made of chains of carbon and hydrogen atoms only. These chains are of varying lengths.
