SUPERFICIAL this is the outer most layer of skin to be damaged causing redness, tenderness, swelling PARTIAL THICKNESS Outer layer of skin is destroyed and very painful. If 20% of the body or more is affected, can be fatal. Causes red, raw skin / red and blistered around affected area. FULL THICKNESS All layers of skin are affected and the possibility of damage to nerves, tissue, muscle & blood vessels Sensation/ pain is usually lost Pale, waxy, charred skin |
