For trauma on scene time, how long should it be? |
10 minutes. |

What do you do if an injury site is dressed prior to arrival? |
If it's a trusted and known first responder and bleeding is controlled, leave intact. |

How do you dress an amputation? |
Control hemorrhage, remove any tight bands, clean, place remaining tissue near normal, cover with moist dressing and dry dressing over, splint. |

How do you do deal with amputated part? |
Try and find it, but don't waste time doing so. If found, rinse with saline if dirty, wrap with moist sterile gauze, place in water-tight container/bag and immerse in cold water (add ice if available). |

Calf pain when foot is dorsiflexed Calf tenderness to palpation Numbness in 1st webspace |

When do you splint major extremity injuries for a load and go situation? |
Enroute. Splint on scene if sufficient resources are available for splinting and managing ABCs. |

When can a traction splint be applied on scene? |
If it's an isolated femur fracture, and is sole cause for hypotension. Patient must have no airway, respiration, or LOC issues. |

How do you splint joint injuries? |
As found. Exception is the knee with absent distal pulse. Apply gentle traction unless met with severe pain or resistance. |

What happens if circulation is lost after splinting? |
Re-manipulate gently or replace in initial position. If not possible, splint as is. |

What happens if elbow dislocation has obvious neurovascular compromise? |
Contact BHP for advice. |

How could you stabalize a fractured mandible? |
Apply a roller bandage or apply C-collar. Make sure patient is not vomiting and intra-oral hemorrhage is controlled. |

Can you remove impaled object for facial injuries? |
Yes, only if through the cheek or compromising airway. |

Epistaxis because of trauma, pressure should be held for how long? |
10 minutes. In medical, it's 5 minutes. |

Do you clean/rinse avulsed teeth? |
No. Don't touch the root. If patient is alert and stable, place it in the socket and have them bite down. If not, transport in cold milk or saline. |

Can you apply a cold pack for blunt trauma to scrotum or penis? |
Yes, if patient is cooparative. |

How do you treat a swollen scrotum? |
Cold pack and elevate with a towel roll. |

Are bystanders allowed to help with restraining a violent or extremely agitated patient who has had a head injury? |
BLS says to "assess the need for police or other bystander assistance prior to restraining the patient..." |

What are signs of ICP according to BLS? How should you hyperventilate? |
After measures have been taken to mitigate hypoxia and hypotension: Deteriorating GCS or <9 Assymmetric pupils/motor response Hyperventilate RR 20-24. |

How do you manage CSF leak? |
Allow flow to continue unobstructed, place loose gauze to absorb flow. |

According to BLS, can you remove the first dressing when controlling wound hemorrhage? |
Surprisingly yes if it is blood-soaked. Check to see if pressure is applied to the correct site. |

Can you remove an impaled object to the chest according to the BLS? |
Never. Even during CPR, you are to only change hand positions. |
