Observer

Contacts

Supply information about an employee. A youth on a regular work detail who knows the staff member work style.

Runners

Are not active members of the total set-up process, but will assist in any phase of it for some sort of reward. Payment can be Drugs, money, cell phone, cigarettes. Ect.

Turners

Befriend employees and use that friendship to ultimately coerce them into engaging in infractions of the rules.

Pointmen

Stand guard when an employee is in the process of granting illegal favors, violating facility rules, or is being compromised or harmed.

Trouble Spot

Areas of job assignments where staff members have or can be turned into " Mules". Youth know that it is only a matter of time before both they and their supplier are caught.

First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of Speech, or the press, or the right of people peaceably to assemble.

freedom of Religion

Djj policy 18.4 All will have the right to adhere to the requirements of their established religion, The right to participate on a Voluntary bases, in religious services offered.

Freedom of Expression

DJJ Policy 15.4 Viewing, Listening and Reading materials, addresses and the right to freedom of expression.

Fourth Amendment

The right of people to be secure in their persons, homes, papers and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.

Sixth Amendment

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a Speedy and Public trial.

Eight Amendment

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposes, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Grievance

A Formal complaint regarding a condition by the grievant to be unjust.

Grievance Officer Responsibility

Read complaint within 8 hours of getting it from the box and attempt to bring resolution to the issue,


Shall prepare a written response as soon as possible, but always within 72 hours of the receipt of the grievance.

14 Amendment

No state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States. ( Without Due Process)

Staff Discretion

Staff must know policy in order to know what they can and cannot do.

Liability

Failure to comply with state or Federal laws will be cause for staff being held liable for their actions. Must also insure compliance in providing other services such as : Education, Recreation, medical services. Psychological treatment, etc.

Commitment

A Juvenile or Superior court disposition that places youth in the care and control of the Department, subject to the limitations of the court order.
