Process of Replication
Copying DNA to make 2 DNA copies. Occurs before cell reproduction. The original DNA then splits into single strands and each act as a template for the next strand.
What is a DNA polymerase and it's function?
it is an enzyme, it unzips the copied DNA Molecule, opens and controls copy of DNA.
Process of Transcription
Transcription is the process of creating a complementary RNA copy of a sequence of DNA. Replacing Thymine with Uracil.
What are DNA and RNA made out of?
They are Nucleic Acids (Hence the NA.) They are made from Nucleotides which are the building blocks of Nucleic Acids.
Four Nitrogenous bases of DNA
Guanine, Adenine, Cytosine, and Thymine.
Four Nitrogenous bases of
Guanine, Adenine, Cytosine, and Uracil.
What is the section of DNA which codes for a protein?
Gene.
Types of RNA?
Messenger MRNA - Carries information to Ribosome, encodes chemical blue print for a protein product.
Transfer TRNA - Carries amino acids. 73-93 nucleotides in length. Ribosomal RRNA - is the RNA component of the ribosome, the enzyme that is the site of protein synthesis in all living cells. |
