Nonrenewable resource
*one that cannot be replenished by natural processess.
*fossil fuels; coal, oil and natural gas.
*when depleted they are gone forever.
Invasive species
*introduced into new habitats, these organisms often become invasive species that reproduce rapidly.
*increase their populations because their new havitat lacks the parasites and predators that control their population "back home"
examples: zebra mussels came on ships from Europe and spread throughout the Great Lakes.
Greenhouse effect
*natural situation in which heat is retained in Earth's atmosphere by carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor and other gases.

*increase in the average temperature on earth.
*Research shows that surface temperatures will increase by 1 to 2 celsius degrees byt he year 2050.
*sea levels may rise, cause flooding, some areas may experience droughts, and any long term change in climate will affect ecosystems and new organisms may be able to live in place where they once could not.
