Asexual Reproduction

Is the production of offspring that are genetically identical to the parent. Ex Binary Fission; Budding; Spore Formation; and Vegative Reproduction.

Binary Fission(Asexual)

One cell splits into two cells, resulting on the production of two identical individuals.

Budding(Asexual)

The parent produces a small bud, which detaches from the parent and developed into an identical individuals. Ex Hydra; Yeast; Corals.

Spore Formation(Asexual)

Fungi and non-flowering plants produce spores. Each spore developed into a new individual that is identical to the parent.

Vegetative Reproduction(Asexual)

A form of reproduction that does not involve the formation of seeds. Ex Tubers in Potatoes; Bulbs in Daffodils.

Sexual Reproduction

Reproduction that involves two idividuals.

Gametes

Specialized cells involved in sexual reproduction. Male gametes: sperm. Female gametes: egg cells.

Fertilization

The union of a sperm cell and an egg cell.

Zygote

A cell formed from fertilization.

Sperm Cell

Male Sex Cell.

Egg Cell

Female Sex Cell.
