Increases the amount of recourses, waste and space needed which reduces the land available for other animals. |
|
How do humans reduce the amount of land available for other animals or plants? |
Quarrying, farming and dumping waste. |
|
How is pollution caused in water? |
From sewage, fertilisers or toxic chemicals. |

How does pollution affect biodiversity? |
Kills plants and animals, which reduces biodiversity. |
|
How is pollution caused on land? |
Landfill and from toxic chemicals such as pesticides and herbicides. These can also be washed from land into water. |
|
Bioaccumulation |
Where toxins enter the food chain. Initially, the amount ingested is small; but as it travels up the food chain for toxins build up in the organisms. It can lead to dangerous levels of toxins accumulating in the top predator. |
