What processes use the concentration gradient and no energy?

Passive processes

What is the concentration gradient?

The difference of substance concentration in one place and another (high to low)

What is diffusion?

The movement of molecules from a high concentration to a low concentration.

What is osmosis?

The diffusion of water across a membrane. (high -> low)

What is osmotic pressure?

The pressure generated by osmosis

Define tonicity

The relative concentration of a solute vs. solvent in fluids that causes the movement of fluids in a and out of a cell.

What would an isotonic cell look like?

It would be normal because the solute concentration is the same inside and outside of the cell.

What would a hypertonic cell look like?

It would be swollen because there is a lower solute concentration outside of the cell

What would a hypertonic cell look like?

It would be shrivelled because there is a high solute concentration outside the cell.
