What is CDS FAULT?
An amber flag indicating a non-dispatchable CDS fault (DEU failure). Displayed on the ground only, prior to the start of the second engine.
What is DSPLY SOURCE?
The CDS has automatically switched to a single DEU (a DEU has failed) or has manually been switched to a single DEU via the DISPLAYS SOURCE panel.
What happens when you get DSPLY SOURCE above FL220?
Autopilot and flight directors are not affected.
What happens when you get DSPLY SOURCE during climb or descent below FL220 with the failed side autopilot engaged?
What happens when you get DSPLY SOURCE during level flight below FL220 with the failed side autopilot engaged?
Climb or descent to a new altitude only possible in CWS P.
What happens when you get DSPLY SOURCE during approach mode above 400 ft with both flight directors on?
On the failed side, pitch and roll command bars are removed.
What is DISPLAYS CONTROL PANEL?
An amber indication that means the EFIS control panel is failed on the affected side.
What else would you see associated with the DISPLAYS CONTROL PANEL?
The altitude information is removed on the affected side.
What is INSTR SWITCH?
An amber indication displayed when the IRS switch on the overhead panel is not in the NORMAL position. Indicates both displays are using the same source of IRU data.
What does an unfilled Range to Target Speed Dot (RTSD) indicate?
The target speed will not be reached by the end of the Vertical Flight Path Vector Line.
How many DEU's are needed to drive all DU's?
At least one
What does the AUTO position of the Displays Source Selector do?
Allows DEU 1 to drive CA outboard, CA inboard, and Upper DU; DEU 2 to drive FO outboard, FO inboard, and lower DU. Provides automatic switching in case of single DEU failure.
What happens when the MAIN PANEL DUs selector is on OUTBD PFD?
Outboard DU is PFD, inboard is blank.
What happens when the MAIN PANEL DUs selector is on INBD ENG PRI?
Displays primary engine instruments on the inboard DU and PFD on the outboard DU
What happens when the MAIN PANEL DUs selector is on INBD PFD?
Displays PFD on the inboard DU and blanks the outboard DU
What happens when the MAIN PANEL DUs selector is on INBD MFD?
Displays MFD SYS or ENG when selected. Blank otherwise. PFD is on the outboard DU
What does the Flight Recorder Test Switch in NORMAL do?
-In flight, recorder operates anytime electrical power is available. -On ground, recorder operates when electrical power is available and either engine is running
What does the Flight Recorder Test Switch in TEST do?
Powers the flight recorder on the ground
What does the Flight Recorder OFF light indicate?
Indicates recorder is not operating or that the test is invalid.
When on a single DEU, are the flight instrument indications redundant?
Yes, each DEU receives information from both ADIRU's.
Would you use the DISPLAYS SOURCE selector in flight?
No, it's for maintenance purpose on the ground.
What happens if a DU fails?
Automatic switching should occur.
What is the purpose of the Display Select Panels?
To allow for manual switching if a failure goes undetected.
What are the major components of the Air Data Inertial Reference System(ADIRS)?
-2 Air Data Inertial Reference Units, -4 Air Data Modules, -1 Inertial System Display Unit, -1 dual Mode Select Unit, -6 Static Ports, -3 Pitot Probes, -2 Alpha Vanes, -1 Total Air Temperature Probe.
What is the function of the ADIRU's?
They process information from internal gyros and accelerometer's, the ADM's, the Alpha Vanes, and the TAT probe and send it to the FMC and DU's.
What is the function of the ADM's?
