High lift devices power

TE flaps, LE flaps (i/b engine), LE slats (o/b engine)

- pwrd by hydraulic system B

If system B fails - Alt flaps switch

- TE flaps operate electrically (ext/ret)

- LE devices use standby hyd system

- Extend only

Primary flight controls pwr

Pwrd hydraulically

Backup pwr

- Ailerons & elevator - cable system

- Rudder - standby hydraulic system

LOW PRESSURE (overhead)

= low pressure to primary flight controls

- ext when standby rudder selected

Aileron/Spoiler jam

- apply force to cw to identify which system has fault

- if aileron system jammed, force to FOs cw provides roll control from spoilers (capts cw inop)

- if FOs cw jammed, force to capts cw provides roll control from ailerons (FOs cw inop)

Speedbrake Auto on landing

- both ground and flight spoilers deploy to destroy lift and inc braking efficiency

Conditions

- lever armed

- SPEED BRAKE ARMED (green light)

- RA < 6'

- landing gear strut compressed

- both thrust levers idle

- mains spin up > 60kts

Speedbrake lever DOWN, Auto on landing/RTO

- reverse thrust levers to reverse thrust pos

- thrust levers to IDLE

- mains spin up > 60kts

To retract spoiler panels after landing/RTO

- advance either thrust lever OR

- Speedbrake lever to DOWN

Elevator jam

- if 1 cc jams, both apply force against jam

- will brake out 1 cc which is used for elevator control (higher force req)

If jam in aft elevator control mechanism

- both cc limited range

- elevator jam landing assist system uses spoilers to inc/dec RoD during app/land

FEEL DIFF PRESS (overhead)

Elevator feel and centering unit simulates aerodynamic forces, sends to cc

- bases on a/s from elevator pitot system and stab pos

Amber light = excessive differential press in computer

- when either hydraulic system or elevator feel pitot system fails

Trim

- flaps extend = electric trim in high speed

- flaps retract = electric trim in low speed

STAB OUT OF TRIM (blw lights test)

= A/P not trimming stab properly

SPEED TRIM FAIL + MC (FLT CONT)

System returns a/c to trimmed speed by commanding stab in direction opposite speed change

- in man flight (TO, climb, GA)

STBY RUD ON + MC (FLT CONT)

standby rudder activated, system A or B input jammed or disconnect

Auto: force flight monitor detects opposing press btwn A & B actuators

Man: through FLT CONTROL switch

YAW DAMPER (overhead)

- disengaged

If amber light + auto switch to OFF

= fault in system

- must select STBY RUD before switch can be reset ON

YD

- Dutch roll prevention, Gust dampening, turn coordination

- inputs may be overriden by pedals or trim

LE devices

TE 1-25 = LE to full extend, slats to extend

TE > 25 = LE & slats to full extend

Panel:

Amber = in transit /uncommanded pos

Ext = retracted

System protection

FSEU - protects against excessive air loads on TE flaps (relief for pos 10-40)

Autoslat system - high AoA, slats auto full extend

PFD

Green number - flap maneuvering speed

Bottom amber bar - flap limit placard speed for next normal flap setting

Flight Control lights

LOW PRESSURE = hydraulic press to ailerons, elevators, and rudder low

SPOILERS = one or more spoiler pairs inop

Aileron trim limitation

Do notnuse when autopilot engaged

Max alt with flaps extended

20,000 feet

Speedbrake limitations

Flaps 40 - Do not extend beyond ARMED

Do not deploy at RA 1000'or less
