What are the common features of a typical vertebra?

The features include the centrum, the Verbral foramen,the Trasverse processes, the Spinous process,and Superior or articular processes.

What is the centrum?
|
It is a dislike, wieght-bearing part of the vertebra facing the vetebral column.

What is the verbral arch?
|
Its an arch from the joining of all posterior extensions from the vertebral body.

What is the vertebral foramen?
|
It is a canal through which the spinal cord passes.
|

What are the transverse processes?
|
They are the two lateral projections froma a vertebrae.

What is the spinous process?
|
Its a single projection arising from the posterior aspect fo the vertebral arch.

What are the superior and inferior articular processes?
|
They are paired projections lateral to the vertebral foramen,allowing a vertebra to form joints with adjacent vertebrae.

What is the cervical vertebrae?
|
It is first seven bones of the vertebral column reaching from neck to the spine.

What is the Atlas?
|
Its the fist cervical vertebra, and it articulates with the occipital bone of the skull and the second cervical vertebra.

|
Its the second cervical vertebra, and it has vertical projections called the dens which are found around where the atlas rotates.
