There is a lot of references to the space and aviation industry in the automobile advertisements or the models. Using the future as a reference and spaceship designs worked very well during that period. In this example there is a spaceship in the ad, also use the word rocket.

The 50's saw a boom in the suburbs. A lot of families were moving there in a completely new environment. In this picture we can see that it makes reference to the suburban life. Telling the customer that it has enough room to fit a family in today's age.

The ads would also focus on the fact that buying a new car would bring the person a higher social status. It was a technique used by the industry to sell more cars. ''Become a new man'' it said in this advertisement.

In this example it shows that the car designs in the 50's were heavily influenced by aviation. The back of the car was similar to one of an airplane. There was also a large amount of chrome onto the cars.

Before the 50's the automobile industry were struggling to sell cars. They wanted to make it exciting again by making new models. In this one it tells the consumer that driving will now be fun and exciting again if they buy the car.

This is an older model of car that was done before the change in designs in the 50's we can clearly see the difference in shape of the car. Although they still had a lot of chrome.
