Atoms =

All subtances are made of atoms this cannot be chemically broken down it is the smallest part of an element.

Elements=

Elements are made up if only one type of atom.

Compounds =

Compounds contain more than one type of atom.

Mixture=

Mixtures contain element and compounds.

Protons=

Protons are postively charged. They are inside the nucleus.

Neutrons=

Neutrons have no charge. They are inside the nucleus.

Mass Number=

The Mass number tells us the number of protons

and neutrons.

Atomic Number=

The atomic number is the number of protons.

Nucleus=

The nucleus contains protons and neutrons.

Electron Configuration=

A shorthand way of respenting number of electrons in shells.

The periodic table=

The periodic table contains elements with their own symbols.

Columns=

Columns are called groups.

Groups=

The groups in the periodic table have similar properties.

Rows=

Rows are called periods.

Elements in the periodic table=

Eelements in the same group have the same number of electrons in their outer shell so they have similar chemical properties.

Ionic Bonding:

Metal and non-metals react.

Metals:

form postive ions.

Non-metals:

form negative ions.

Metals:

Lose Electrons.

Non-Metals:

Gain Electrons.
