Simple Squamous Epithelium

One layer of square or flat tissue. Diffusion and filtration. Lungs and kidneys

Simple Cuboidal Epithelium

One layer of cubed like tissue. Secretion and absorption. Thyroid, ovaries, renal tubules

Simple Columnar Epithelium

One layer of column like tissue. Stomach, intestines, uterus

Stratified Squamous Epithelium

Multiple layers of flat or square like tissue. Epidermis, esophagus, mouth

Stratified Cuboidal Tissue

Multiple layers of cubed like tissue. Large ducts

Stratified Columnar Epithelium

Multiple layers of column like tissue. Conjunctiva, vas deferens, pharynx

Multiple layers. Transitions from Cuboidal to Squamous and back. Urinary bladder, uterus

One layer but looks like multiple. Attached to the basement membrane. Can contain mucus cells. Trachea, Upper Respiratory Tract
