What was the Proclamation of 1763?
A law that stated that the colonists were not allowed to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains.
Why did the Proclamation of 1763 cause tension between the colonists and British?
It did not allow the colonist to expand even though many of the colonists fought for the British.

It was the first tax to be regularly enforced by the British Parliament.

How did the Boston Massacre cause tension between the colonists and the British?
Colonists felt that it was an attack on an unarmed crowd. Started panic & fear throughout the colonies by calling it a massacre. British were upset about the exaggeration of the story.

Colonists called these acts, "Intolerable" because they felt they were denying them basic human rights.

Why were Americans considered to be "behaving badly" in reference to the Boston Massacre?
Crowd was not unarmed. Next day published "Boston Massacre picture" in the paper. Word quickly spread about Americans being massacred in the street.

Battle of Bunker Hill
June 17, 1775. First major battle of the American Revolution
Battle of Saratoga
the decisive American victory in 1777 that was a major turning point in the revolution, prompting France and Spain to enter the war against Britain.
Battle of Yorktown
The British defeat at Yorktown in 1781 ended the long war. Two years later, Britain recognized American independence in the Treaty of Paris.
Battle of New York
forced Americans to flee into New Jersey.
Why did American win the American Revolution?
The British were harried by American troops fighting in a style that later came to be called guerrilla warfare, fighting on their home land, fought a defensive war rather than beating the British outright, help from France.
What did the Treaty of Paris say?
American and British representatives signed this treaty ending the war. In this treaty, Britain recognized American independence. It also gave up it's claims to all lands betwwen the Atlantic coast and the Mississippi River, from Canada south to Florida. It was the official end of the war.
Lexington & Concord
soldiers were sent to seize weapons and arrest rebel leaders. Paul Revere road through the towns to warn the soldiers. Minutement and British soldiers faced off at Lexington. Loses were great for the colonists. When news of the attack was heard, many joined at the Concord the next morning. Soldiers were taken by surprise and forced to flee.
