To obtain a class 7 learners operators licence you must
•Be 14 years or older
•Pass a vision screening
•Pass a knowledge test on the rules of the road
•Have parental consent if you are under 18 years old
•Have valid identification
A class 7 driver must
•You must hold a learners licence for at least one year
•You must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver who is 18 years or older
•You are not permitted to drive from midnight to 5a.m.
•You are not permitted to have more passengers than seat belts
•You will be suspended if you accumulate 8 or more dermis points
•You must have a zero alcohol level when driving
To become a probationary driver you must
•Hold your class 7 licence for a year
•Be 16 years or older
• Pass the basic Alberta class 5 road test
Probationary Conditions
•You must be a probationary driver for a minimum of 2 years
•You must have no more passengers than seat belts
•You will be suspended if you accumulate 8 or more dermis points
•You must have a zero alcohol level when driving
•You are not able to re-class to a commercial licence (classes 1,2,3,4)
•You cannot serve as an accompanying driver to a learner
To become a fully licensed driver you must
•Have been suspension free for the past 12 months of the 2 year probationary stage
•Pass the advanced road test
Exiting the GLD program
•Move from a class 5 GLD to a full class 5 licence
•Qualify to re-class to a class 1,2,3,4 licence
•Increase the number of dermits you are allowed
•remove the zero alcohol tolerance
•Be able to accompany a learner
