Antigen Presentation |
• Antigen presenting cell moves around body where it can come Into contact with specific cells that can activate the full immune response • these are T & B lymphocytes • Maybe only one T & B cell with the correct recognition site for the antigen • Therefore the role of the antigen presenting cell is to increase the chances that the antigen will come in contact with them |
Clinal Selection |
• The activation f specific B & T cells • Activates complex series of events leading production of antibodies |
Cytokines |
• The hormone-like chemicals that stimulate and coordinate the whole series of events • Stimulate the differentiation of macrophages, B & T cells. |
T Helper Cells |
• Release cytokines that stimulate B cells to develop • Stimulare phagocytosis |
T Killer cells (Tk) |
• Attack and kill host body cells that display foreign antigens |
T Memory cells ( Tm) |
• Provide long-term immunity |
T Regulator Cell (Tr) |
• **** down the immune system after pathogen has been successfully removed • Involved in preventing autoimmunity |
Plasma Cells |
• Circulate in the blood, manufacturing & releasing the antibodies |
B Memory Cells |
• Remain in the body for a number of years and act as a immunological memory |
