The Holy City of Mecca
An important religious center as well as trading center located along the trade routes in western Arabia. Each year, Muslim pilgrims from around the world come to Mecca to worship at the Ka'aba. Muslims try to make a pilgrimage to Mecca once in their lives.

Muhammad settled in the city of Medina after he was forced to flee the city of Mecca.

Religion revealed after 610 among the Arab peoples living on the Arabian Peninsula. Spread by Muhammad. Muhammad taught that there was only one God, called Allah.
