New Testament
The second section of the Bible, is the most important part of the Scriptures because it contains the life and teachings of Jesus.
Old Testament
The first section of the Bible, was put together by the Jewish people. Consists of the first 46 books of the Bible which are chiefly concerned with preparing the world for the Messiah.
Tradition
the teachings of Christ that were preached by the apostles and handed down from century to century
Gospels, and the names of the four books it consists of
the four accounts we have about the life, death and Resurrection of Jesus - they tell us what Christ did and said while he lived on Earth. Consists of the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Holy Bible, and the names of the two sections it consists of
The collection of books which the Church teaches to be inspired by God. There are 73 books in it, and it is divided into 2 sections: the Old Testament and the New Testament. Another name is Sacred Scripture.
inspiration
A gift from God to the men who wrote the books of the Bible. It means that these men were guided by the Holy Spirit so that they wrote down only the truths that God wanted them to write.
Creed
It is a statement and summary of our beliefs as Christians (such as the Apostles' or the Nicene)
divine revelation
The truths that we have learned from God himself about religion, mankind and the world. It is a gift from God to us. Without it we would never have known about such things like the Trinity, Incarnation or other important truths. It began with Adam & Eve and ended with the death of Saint John the Evangelist.
infallibility
The gift of God that is the truth that the Catholic Church, by the special help of the Holy Spirit, is kept free of any error in teaching us about faith (what we must believe) and morals (how we must live). Can only be used by the Pope or all the bishops unified under the Pope.
Magisterium
The teaching office or authority in the Church. It is exercised by the Pope and the bishops united with him. By Christ's command, all Christians are solemnly obliged to obey the teachings of it.
