cornea

transparent front surface through which light enters. Helps protect and eye and focuses light rays
Pupil

black part of the eye. opening through which light enters the inside of the eye. can expand to let more light in or contract to let less light in
Iris

colored part of the eye. Ring of muscle that changes the size of the pupil
Lens

light passes through after entering the pupil. CONVEX lens!!
Ciliary Muscle

holds the lens in place. adjusts the lens so you can see far away and close up objects
Retina

layers of cells on which an upside-down image forms
Rods

allows you to see in dim light
Cones

detects red, green, and blue light

Optic Nerve

carries a signal from the rods and cones to the brain
