Salicylate - aspirin (Bayer, Ecotrin, Astrin)

Headaches, muscle pain, inflammation and pain from arthritis, mild anticoagulant
Serum therapeutic range: 5mg/dl Inflammation: 15-30mg/dl Can displace other highly protein bound drugs If taken with acetaminophen, GI bleeding couldresult Side effects: fastric discomfort, tinnitis, vertigo, deafness (reversible) inc bleeding Should be taken with foods or at mealtime. COX-2 inhibitor - celecoxib (Celebrex)

Treat osteroarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Not indicated for clients <18yrs. Caution for clients with severe renal or liver disorders and those allergic to sulfonamides.
