When would a DO void a complaint?

If complaint is a duplicate

If incident occurred in another command

If incident happened outside NYC

If wrong paperwork was used (Complaint Report was not the right form to use)

If a Complaint Report has not been finalized and needs to be voided, then the Command Clerk will do this

Enter reasons for voiding complaint under "Details" on 61

Have 61 filed chronologically in rear of precinct complaint file

Utilize VOID function on the OLCS menu to properly document the VOIDED complaint in the OLCS

If a Complaint Report that needs to be voided has been finalized, the DO will do this

Have the Command Clerk prepare an Omniform Complaint Revision

Ensure the Omniform Complaint Revision is distributed in same manner as voided 61

The Command Clerk will do this if a finalized Complaint Report has to be voided

Reclassify original offense to VOIDED

Under "Details" on Omniform Complaint Revision, enter specific reason for voiding the original complaint (Referred to another command - indicate new command and new complaint number from that command, Complaint is a dupe, indicate as reason and the original complaint number)

Attach precinct of record copy of Omniform Complaint Revision to precinct file copy of voided 61

Once a Complaint Report is finalized, what happens to that complaint number?

The complaint number can't be changed or reused in OLCS (voided or not)

If notifications were made before a Complaint Report needed to be voided, then this will happen

Voided Complaint - Something happened but the 61 shouldn't have been prepared

Unfounded Case - 61 should be prepared but subsequent information determines that the complaint didn't actually happen
