Magnetic Field:

Anywhere the magnetic effect can be detected.

flux density

The strength of the magnetic effect. Measure in Tesla (webers per m2)

Magnetic flux

Magnetic Poles:

The area of a magnet where the lines of flux are considered to flow to and from. They are named North and South poles.

Lines of Force:

Imaginary flux lines considered to flow from North to South Pole. They don’t cross and act like stretched rubber bands.

Permanent Magnet:

A magnet which retains its magnetism when the magnetizing force is removed

Temporary Magnet:

A magnet which loses its magnetism when the magnetizing force is removed

Magnetic screening:

Protecting sensitive equipment from the magnet effect of other devices, and preventing interference
